Cardiff residents can attend two upcoming warm space events this month as the council continues its “efforts” to keep people warm this winter.
The events will take place on February 13 at Riverside Warehouse - for the girls’ youth club night - and on February 19 at the Butetown Pavilion youth hub.
These are not the first events of this kind after events took place in Grangetown and Tremorfa this January.
Participants were offered hot food and there was family entertainment, including face painting and magic shows.
Attendees also had access to stalls that provided advice on health & wellbeing and energy management.
Cllrs Lynda Thorne and Lee Bridgeman, who share cabinet responsibility for Housing and Communities, said that they were “pleased” they were able to offer the events in an update given to Cardiff Council in January.
They said: “Efforts are continuing to make sure that everyone stays warm this winter,” adding that they had partnered with several organisations including Boomerang Cardiff, Scope and Mind.
The events are in addition to Warm Welcome Spaces offered by the council - community hubs or libraries where people can relax in a warm environment, access free Wi-Fi, hot drinks and receive support.
At the time of the statement, over 6,000 people had used the spaces since mid-October 2024, according to Cllrs Thorne and Bridgeman.
Cllrs Thorne and Bridgman added: “These spaces will remain available in all Hubs for visitors to enjoy a hot drink and receive advice and support where needed.”
