A new play area in Canton has officially opened to the public.

Located at Sanatorium Park, it features three slides, climbing platforms and a wheelchair accessible roundabout.

There are also two new junior swings, a basket swing, and a range of other natural play features such as boulders and tunnels.

Labour Cllr Jennifer Burke, cabinet member for culture, parks and events, said: "Children need outside play, it's key to their development and I hope they all have a great time exploring the new play area at Sanatorium Park.

"Good quality, free and accessible local play facilities like this are really important for parents, particularly at a time when money is tight for many, which is why we're continuing to upgrade facilities across Cardiff."

Although all play equipment is available to use, a small section of the play area will remain fenced off temporarily to allow time for grass to become established.
