Children in Splott are set to have a new play area as work on a puzzle and games themed space starts next week.

The development of the new play zone at Splott park will start on January 27 and is expected to take around 14 weeks.

It will include play equipment for toddlers, juniors and teens as well as accessible play equipment and natural play areas.

Part of Cardiff Council’s Neighbourhood Renewal Scheme Programme, which takes forward improvement schemes suggested by local councillors, it is funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.

The final design includes a tube slide, train and giant jigsaw pieces to climb after the views of the local community were taken into consideration.

Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Lee Bridgeman said: “I’m pleased to see work getting underway on this scheme – it’s a fantastic, fun design.

“The new playground will provide a vibrant and inclusive environment for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy, which I’m sure will have a positive impact on the local community.”
