Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAVUHB) has introduced a wheelchair borrowing scheme for patients and visitors to the University Hospital of Wales.

The trial scheme, Wheelshare, is designed to “prioritise accessibility” for the hospital’s patients and visitors.

The wheelchairs are placed in busy zones such as the drop-off area near the concourse and at the multi-story car park.

Rental is self-service and free for the first six hours.

Wheelshare operates at airports and hospitals in Germany, France, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Israel and the UK, including King’s College Hospital.

Find out more about how it works on Wheelshare’s website.
