A man from Llanishen has been sentenced for rape at Cardiff Crown Court.

Daniel Wide, 33, has been sentenced to 15 years including 10 years' custodial and five years' extended licence.

He pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault by penetration, and was sentenced on April 8.

Detective Constable Wehab Mohamed, from South Wales Police, said:“Wide’s actions have had the most devastating impact on the victim who has been so brave in speaking out, contacting police, and going through the criminal justice process.

“Her evidence and our commitment to this investigation resulted in two guilty pleas.

“We hope the outcome brings some comfort to the victim and allows her to begin the process of regaining her confidence.”
